Pruner machine for single cordon vineyards

News

Pruner mod. PFCL, the latest creation from Orizzonti, designed for winter pruning of free cordon vineyards.
Planting pattern widely used in various countries, thanks to the simple construction concept, the free cordon is easy to mechanize, for this reason we have designed a machine that completes winter pruning operations as autonomously as possible.
The pruner mod. PFCL was born from the need to reduce traditional and manual pruning operations along the main cordon to a minimum, trying to obtain the maximum result already with the first and only pass of the machine.
It is made up of three cutting bars with Ø 41 cm discs that work simultaneously, two vertical and one horizontal as topping. The two vertical ones are controlled independently by a hydraulic-mechanical centering system, made up of two keypads that copy the plants and the support poles of the system to keep the cutting distance of the discs from the main cordon constant, initially set by the operator. Once the distance at which to operate the discs and cut with respect to the cordon has been manually set, this chosen distance is maintained by the two feeler antennas thanks to a hydraulic system with controlled effort.
The upper topping bar is instead the responsibility of the operator, being positioned with good visibility with respect to the seat on the tractor. Adjustable both in height and in inclination (to perform asymmetric pruning) hydraulically via a joystick.
The cutting bars are composed of 2 or 3 discs depending on the wall to be cut, with an internal belt transmission.
On the lower part of the vertical bars there are two shoot-lifting conveyors, which allow the innermost shoots and those closest to the main cordon to be collected, to be cut as well.
The machine is hydraulically managed by a 9-function Joystick arranged inside the various tractors and for correct operation it requires 45 lt/min and 180 bar max. of pressure.
The working speeds with our PFCL pruner are between 1.2 - 2.2 Km/h.
Thanks to the PFCL the pruning phase becomes more and more a mechanizable operation, optimizable, with an impact of increasingly lower costs for each company.
We go from about 80/100 h per hectare, up to 10 hours per hectare for manual pruning, for those who wanted to do quick finishing operations
